Johnny Dango and the Cornbread Special
May 18 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Johnny Dango is a 16-year veteran of the Austin music scene. Born, raised & partially educated in Stillwater, Oklahoma, he began playing music professionally in the Stillwater bars as the lead guitar player for Stoney LaRue. Dango co-founded Austin indie band Brothers and Sisters in 2005 before releasing his first solo record, “Let’s Go Pioneering!” in 2006. In 2009, Dango started southern rock band The Memphis Strange and released the band’s first record, “Birth of The Strange,” in 2011. A solo EP, “Johnny Dango’s (Sort of) Nice Dreams,” followed in 2013. Dango has spent the last 3 years touring extensively, writing, and recording. Now, in 2017, he is releasing a wealth of new material, starting with the second album from The Memphis Strange, titled “Strange Seconds,” which was released March 31, 2017. A new solo record, “Recluse in Plain Sight,” will come out July 14th, and another yet-untitled solo album is scheduled for a November release. In addition to playing music, Dango likes to fish and is known to smoke a mean rack of ribs.
